The girls and I went over to my friend, Koula's house Sunday afternoon for her youngest daughter's birthday party.
I was a little worried because this is what Layla was doing as I was trying to get us all out the door.
But once we got there and in the pool, she was happy!
Carly enjoyed playing with the balls from a Frozen game and hanging out in the sun.
When I was changing the girls back into their dresses after swimming, I mixed them up. I put Carly in the blue dress thinking she was Layla and Layla in the pink dress, thinking she was Carly. Oops!
Carly (in Layla's dress) would not let this volleyball go. She walked
all around the yard holding onto it.
Layla (in Carly's dress) loved chasing this ball around the backyard.
She would drop it, push it away, and run after it.
I realized they were mixed up once we went outside and ended up changing them back into their original dresses. I'm sure it won't be the last time that happens to them.
We love this warm (not extremely hot!) weather and being able to do things outside. It was a fun afternoon.
Last night Aaron and I had just gone to bed when we heard a loud thump on the girls' monitor followed by a scream. We both got up and went to check it out. Layla was sitting up in her bed crying. Carly was also crying, but I could tell she had just woken up. I picked Layla up and noticed her eye. I'm not exactly sure what happened. I think she may have tried to stand up and hit her eye on the side of her crib.
Today she woke up and acted like her normal self. When I picked her up from school, her eye was a little swollen but it didn't stop her from enjoying her supper tonight. Yummy spaghetti casserole!
Carly enjoyed supper tonight, too. Although I think she ended up with more spaghetti in her bib than she did in her mouth. (We're learning how to eat with a fork and spoon.)
The girls were ready for the Cyclones to play Kansas State and the Longhorns to play BYU last weekend.

Even though both teams had such cute cheerleaders, Iowa State and Texas lost. We are getting ready to watch the ISU/Iowa game today and are hoping for better results!
Aaron had the day off so we spent the day all together! It was hot and rainy outside, so we had to make our own inside fun. The girls found these buckets and played with them. Aaron would talk into a bucket and then the girls would talk into the bucket.
I was doing laundry and the girls started to push the laundry basket around. I decided to put them both in it and push them around.

Then I tried to catch them walking on video. Carly is walking first and Layla is pulling the dog behind her.
The girls are officially walking! They started several weeks ago and haven't looked back.
We have a little table in the girls' play space. Recently they have been very interested in sitting in their chairs and playing on the table. They spent almost 30 minutes playing here Saturday morning.
We went to a birthday party Saturday afternoon. The girls had a good time and loved rocking in the birthday boy's rocking chair.

Sunday I tried a new hairstyle to keep the girls' hair up a little better. Layla likes to play with her hair while she falls asleep and after nap it usually is half way out of her ponytail and in her eyes. The new do worked! She wasn't able to grab her ponytail to pull her hair out of it. I need a little more practice to be able to do it quickly enough for a week day hairstyle. It may have to be a weekend style for now.
Sunday night Ariel and Bryce came over to watch the girls for a few hours while Aaron and I went out for dinner and frozen yogurt. It was nice to spend some alone time together. I hear the girls had a great time with their aunt and cousin.
After afternoon nap Monday, the girls and I went outside to play on their water table. The past few times we have used it, the girls have stayed pretty dry. That was not the case tonight. Carly decided her favorite thing to do was fill the red cup with water and pour it out all over herself.
Layla saw what Carly was doing and decided she would use her green cup to do the same thing.
Pretty soon they were soaked, but it didn't stop their fun.
Carly making an "I'm having fun" face!
Layla sat down and played with the puddle on the cement.
